McBoycott, the right message?

Well it would seem that two young boys, namely, Luke McAndless-Davis of New Westminster, B.C., and his friend Matthew Monteith-Forsyth of Calgary, are calling for a boycott of McDonalds on December 3rd, 2005. The reason, well, it would seem that both are upset that the US is not making enough movement on the softwood lumber issue for them.

According to Luke (aged 10), "(i)t concerns all of Canada and I've been interested for some time about justice issues," and Mathew has this to offer:
"The U.S. is just being a bully to us and keeps punching us. It's just sick and wrong."

The two boys have set up a website to inform people of their position on this matter and have the endorsements of at least two unions.

Glad to see such young individuals take an active role in politics...heck they have done more than Paul Martin's Liberals, but have these kids and their parents forgot about Alberta beef? McDonald's actually made an effort to use 100% Canadian beef in all its locations. Up from 80% when the border to the US was closed. McDonald's is not a target, they sell beef, and Canadian beef at that. This big old corporation actually came to the aid of Canadian rangers, when we needed the extra sales the most.

I am all for kids getting into the protest, but this article leads me to think there is more behind this McBoycott than meets the eye. I find rather sick that the NDP and unions have no problems letting children front their attacks. Oh well....
