Talk about misleading....

Taxman goes after girl, 12

Well the Time Colonist out of Victoria has a great headline, referenced above, too bad it does not even come close to reflecting the true nature of the story. You see, the Canada Reveune Agency (CRA), is going after 12 year old Abigayle Egeland-Northwood for nearly 13,000$, and her father, namely one Nelson Northwood, and mother feel that she is being unfairly targeted by the CRA, because Nelson Northwood does not believe the House of Commons has passed a law requiring people to pay income tax. He lost his bid in the courts two years. Now in order to shelter some of the family's property, he transferred it to his daughter. Now he and his wife are concerned about what impact this will have on their daughter in the future.

May be they sohuld have thought about her before they dragged her in to his arguement with the CRA? May be they should have put her interests frist before they transferred property to her, knowing full well what the cause and effect would be under the Income Tax Act. I mean, he has fought it for several years in the courts.

Its sick to think that this man's arguement with the government, has been one that he is willing to transfer to his 12 year old daughter.
